Garden Refresh Day

Grab some gardening gloves and join us for a Garden Refresh Day on May 18. We need volunteers to help in various outdoor gardening projects. Sign up to volunteer below. 

Volunteer Times

9:00 am – 12:00 pm: Finish trimming & cleaning up old plant materials
Trim down overgrown bushes, trees, and plants, and create piles of material for the compost crew to pick up. 

Pull out weeds, rake out leaves, pull up damaged fabric material, and remove dead plant materials. Create piles for the compost crew to pick up.

10:00 am – 1:00 pm: Planting new plants & watering
Follow the map/instructions and plant new plants in garden beds. Water garden beds after completion.

11:00 am – 2:00 pm: Moving and spreading mulch
Put down cardboard where the garden fabric was pulled out, move mulch to beds and spread.

1:00 pm: Start Compost Drop-Off
Piles of brush/plants need to be dropped off at the compost site, they close at 3 pm.

Provide Tools

Volunteers need to provide their own gardening gloves. Let us know if you can provide any tools for the event.
 

  • Shovels (handheld and digging)
  • Rakes
  • Weed Pulling Tools
  • Clippers & pruners
  • Yard bags for compost materials
  • Garbage bags for landscape fabric
  • Wheelbarrows
  • Tarps or containers to pile compost materials
  • Cardboard
  • Extra gardening gloves

Horario del Voluntariado

9:00 am – 12:00 pm: Terminar de cortar y recoger materiales para compostar
Recorta arbustos, árboles y plantas demasiado grandes y crea pilas para que los recoja el equipo de abono.

Arranca maleza, rastrilla hojas, retira la tela de jardinería dañada y retira las plantas muertas. Crea pilas para que las recoja el equipo de abono.

10:00 am – 1:00 pm: Plantar nuevas plantas y regarlas
Siga el mapa/las instrucciones y plante nuevas plantas en las camas de jardín. Riegue las camas de jardín una vez finalizado.

11:00 am – 2:00 pm: Mover y esparcir cubierta orgánica
Coloque cartón donde se sacó la tela de jardinería dañada, y extienda la cubierta orgánica en las camas de jardinería.

1:00 pm: Preparar la entrega del abono
Es necesario llevar las pilas de maleza/plantas en el sitio de abono/compostaje, que cierra a las 3 p.m.

Herramientas que necesitamos:

Los voluntarios deben traer sus propios guantes de jardinería. Déjanos saber si puedes proporcionar alguna de las siguientes herramientas para este voluntariado:

  • Palas (de mano y de excavación)
  • Rastrillos
  • Herramientas para arrancar malezas
  • Tijeras y podadoras
  • Bolsas de jardinería para materiales de abono
  • Bolsas de basura para tela de jardinería que vamos a remover
  • Carretillas
  • Lonas o contenedores para apilar materiales de abono.
  • Cartones
  • Guantes de jardinería adicionales.
