The opportunity to help improve the neighborhood with something unique and historical was not lost on Tammy Meinel owner of Fort Atkinson’s Beauty and the Bean. When the project was first announced she got together with stylist Kimberly Booth. They decided to donate $5 of every haircut for three weeks. The total donation was $325.

“The Fort Atkinson Club is right out our backdoor. I wanted to help our neighbor,” said Tammy. “It is this kind of project that will help increase downtown activity. That will be good for business.” Joan Jones, President of the Rock River Heritage Inc. said, “This was our very first donation. We are delighted that a neighboring business stepped so quickly to the plate to help the project.

Rock River Heritage Inc. is currently working to restore the former Masonic Temple along Fort Atkinson’s downtown river front. Built in 1903 the building will become a community center.
