SUMMARY:Call for Art - Homegrown: Locally Sourced Art from the Rock River Region
DESCRIPTION:The Fort Atkinson Club Community Center invites artists with ties to the Rock River region and broader Wisconsin community to submit work for Homegrown: Locally Sourced Art from the Rock River Region. \nThis juried exhibition will celebrate the history\, culture\, and heritage of Fort Atkinson and the surrounding area\, made by the people who call it home. Just as the slow food and buy-local movements ask us to look close to home for what nourishes us\, this exhibition asks the same of art. And just as locally sourced food belongs on a local table\, locally made art belongs in the community’s center. The Fort Atkinson Club is proud to hang the work of local artists on these walls — because this art belongs here\, and this center\nbelongs to all of us. \nHomegrown opens on July 17 as part of our beloved Americana on the Rock celebration and closes October 17 after our Harvest Ball — a seasonal arc that begins with pie and whiskey and ends with a table full of food from local growers and vendors. \nSubmission Details (PDF) \nSubmit Your Art

DESCRIPTION:You’ve brie-n waiting for this. As part of Fort Atkinson’s Cheese Louise event\, the FAC is throwing the most ex-swiss-ite party of the summer — The Big Cheese Ball. We’re talking live music\, dancing\, and a fierce competition for the most gloriously cheesy outfit in the room. \nDress as your favorite cheese\, your favorite dairy product\, or just commit fully to yellow. Cheddar? Classic. Brie? Sophisticated. A wheel of parmesan? Bold choice. We respect it. The cheesier the costume\, the better your chances of taking home the Best Dressed: Most Gouda award. We’ll be serving cheese balls (obviously)\, and the dance floor will be open all night under the sparkling disco cheese ball for kids\, grownups\, and everyone in between. \nNo one leaves un-feta-ed. This is one event that’s too gouda to muens-ter! Don’t fondue to get those tickets — space is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance. \nTickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. \nRegister
