SUMMARY:Your Eye Close With My Dreams
DESCRIPTION:This evocative exhibition showcases the works of husband and wife Brian and Angela Szabo. \nThough Brian and Angela Szabo each bring their own distinct artistic voice to the gallery\, a shared through-line runs gently beneath the work: a reverence for what endures. Discarded bones are reclaimed; their beauty and dignity is celebrated. Forms emerge from beneath leaves and flowers. Beauty reveals itself slowly\, through attention. \nAt the heart of the exhibition is a pair of birds bearing a line from Pablo Neruda’s Sonnet XVII\, from which the exhibition takes its title. The poem speaks of a love that is steady\, unassuming\, deeply rooted and inextricably intertwined. \nIn many ways\, this exhibition reflects that same truth: that what appears simple may hold profound depth. That love\, carried faithfully over time\, is one of the most enduring and beautiful forces we know.

DESCRIPTION:Dan Cavanagh will talk about his experiences as a composer and pianist paired alongside recent advances in neuroscience and aesthetics that illuminate why music is uniquely important to our varied experiences as human beings. He will discuss how composers\, performers\, and conductors partner with listeners in the moment to create an environment conducive to considering the human spirit\, our place in this universe\, and our relationships with each other and the world.\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker\nDan Cavanagh is a composer and pianist with numerous awards in both areas. He has performed extensively in North America and Europe\, and his music continues to be performed across the globe by classical and jazz artists alike. His music can be heard on a wide variety of recordings\, and he has released five recordings as a leader. In addition to composing and performing\, he is interested in the way music and the arts serve to shed light on what it means to be human.
