DESCRIPTION:String Chamber Music by Kangwon Kim and Friends \nKangwon Kim\, violin \nHillary Hempel\, violin \nMicah Behr\, viola \nJames Waldo\, cello  \nKangwon Lee Kim\, Assistant Artistic Director and Concertmaster of Madison Bach Musicians\, is an active performer on both baroque and modern violins. She has given concerts throughout the U.S. and in Korea\, Canada\, Puerto Rico\, Switzerland\, Norway\, and Czech Republic. She has performed with the Smithsonian Chamber Players\, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia\, Brandywine Baroque\, Wisconsin Baroque Ensemble\, and Indy Baroque Orchestra.  Dr. Kim has collaborated with world-renowned musicians including Menahem Pressler and Laurence Lesser.  She has earned her degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison\, Oberlin College Conservatory of Music\, and Manhattan School of Music. \nDr. Kim served as Assistant Professor at Biola University and has also taught at Ripon College\, the University of Pennsylvania\, and Lawrence University Conservatory. During the summers\, she teaches at the Madison Early Music Festival and Credo Chamber Music Festival\, and serves as director of the MBM chamber music workshop. \nThis January Program will include Bach’s “Goldberg” variation arranged for string trio\, Haydn Quartet op. 64\, no. 5\, “the Lark”\, and “Italian Serenade” by Hugo Wolf. \nThe free quarterly concert brings quality classical music to the Fort Atkinson Community. \nThe Chamber Series Concert starts at 4pm in the Theater of The Fort Atkinson Club Community Center. Immediately following the concert\, a complementary wine and appetizer reception will be held on the Main Floor overlooking the Rock River. DESCRIPTION:ABOUT QUINCE ENSEMBLE\nSinging with the precision and flexibility of modern chamber musicians\, Quince Ensemble is changing the paradigm of contemporary vocal music.  Described as “the Anonymous 4 of new music” by Opera News\, Quince continually pushes the boundaries of vocal ensemble literature. \nAs dedicated advocates of new music\, Quince regularly commissions new works\, providing wider exposure for the music of living composers. They recently launched the Quince New Music Commissioning Fund\, a fund to grow the repertoire for women and treble voices.  Quince has released three studio albums\, Realign the Time\, Hushers\, and Motherland\, all available on iTunes\, CD Baby\, Spotify\, and Amazon. \nIn 2016\, Quince was featured on the KODY Festival Lublin\, Poland in collaboration with David Lang and Beth Morrison Projects. DESCRIPTION:The Fort Atkinson Club community center\, and the Jones Family is honoring the memory and artistry of Fannie Jones Highsmith\, by holding this show of local artists’ work. It will highlight the works of Julia Ince\, Bethann Hanzlik-Moran and Mary Pratt\, and will also feature a couple furniture pieces by Cynthia Bliss. Docents needed for 2 to 2.5 hour shifts.
