SUMMARY:Introduction to Emotional Freedom Techniques
DESCRIPTION:Our community is navigating unprecedented levels of anxiety\, stress\, and uncertainty. Current research shows that stress has reached epidemic proportions\, affecting not only our emotional well-being but also our physical health. Now more than ever\, accessible tools for calming the nervous system and restoring balance are essential. Mindfulness and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) are both simple\, evidencesupported practices. Yet many people find traditional mindfulness or breathwork difficult to access when they’re overwhelmed. EFT offers a more active\, hands-on approach that often feels easier to learn and apply in moments of stress. EFT is a practical stressmanagement method that has been shown to reduce the body’s stress response and support immune function. Developed in the 1970s\, it has become one of the most widely researched mindbody interventions for stress\, anxiety\, and PTSD since 2010. Research consistently demonstrates its effectiveness both as a selfcare practice and\, when facilitated by a trained practitioner\, as a therapeutic intervention. \nEFT—often referred to as “tapping”—involves gently tapping on specific energy meridian points to calm the body’s anxiety response. Think of it as acupuncture without needles. I hold a master’s degree in counseling and guidance\, and I have had the privilege of providing EFT training to the Madison Metropolitan Police Department’s peer support team. The poem speaks of a love that is steady\, unassuming\, deeply rooted and inextricably intertwined. \nIn many ways\, this exhibition reflects that same truth: that what appears simple may hold profound depth. That love\, carried faithfully over time\, is one of the most enduring and beautiful forces we know.
