Behind these doors\, the gin will be flowing\, the jazz will be jumpin’\, and the joint will be full of flappers and gents cutting a rug. Heavy appetizers\, sweet treats\, a silent auction\, and a paddle raise make it the bee’s knees. \nDust off your glad rags – 1920s attire encouraged! \n  \nThe Fort Atkinson Club Community Center is a beautifully restored building in downtown For Atkinson along the banks of the Rock River. This historic building was lovingly restored by Joan Jones and a host of other remarkable volunteers and donors to become the vital community gathering space it is today. The FAC offers a range of impactful FREE programs for the community including chamber concerts\, FacTalks\, wellness classes\, art programs and exhibitions\, summer patio concerts and much more. \nIn order to keep our programming free and open to everyone in the community we have a few fundraisers annually to support our community vision of “A vibrant Fort Atkinson area\, alive with cultural and learning experiences – music\, visual arts\, lectures\, drama\, wellness and celebrations – where our diverse population is actively engaged.”

This FREE\, public event is made possible for the Fort Atkinson community through a grant from the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities (BPDD). All are welcome to attend. \nRegister\n  \nTopics will include: \nUnderstanding Disability \n\nTypes of Disabilities: There are various types of disabilities\, including physical\, sensory\, intellectual\, and mental health disabilities. All are not the same.\nEtiquette and Language: Examples of respectful language and appropriate behavior when interacting with people with disabilities.\n\nLegal Framework \n\nLaws and Regulations: Overview of relevant laws\, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in the U.S.\, or equivalent legislation in other countries.\nRights and Responsibilities: Understanding the rights of individuals with disabilities and the obligations of organizations to ensure accessibility and accommodation.\n\nInclusive Practices \n\nDiversity and Inclusion: Emphasizing the importance of diversity and creating an inclusive culture that values all individuals.\nBias and Unconscious Bias: Identifying and addressing unconscious biases that might affect interactions with people with disabilities.\n\nCommunication Skills \n\nEffective Communication: Techniques for clear and respectful communication\, including understanding and using alternative communication methods when necessary.\nListening and Feedback: Encouraging open dialogue and feedback to better understand and address the needs of individuals with disabilities.\n\nAction Planning \n\nImplementing Changes: Developing action plans to improve accessibility and inclusion within the community.\nMonitoring and Evaluation: Setting up mechanisms to regularly review and improve accessibility and inclusion efforts.\n\nResources and Support \n\nLocal and Online Resources: Providing information on additional resources\, organizations\, and support networks.\nSupport Systems: Establishing internal support systems and contacts for individuals needing accommodation or assistance.
