Two local Fort Atkinson musicians will be performing for a fundraiser benefiting youth programming at The Fort Atkinson Club Community Center on Friday, October 9. Benjamin Whitcomb is the cellist in the Ancora String Quartet and Christopher Dozoryst is the violist with The Rhapsodie Quartet. Both quartets are well known in the chamber music world and it is a rare occasion to have them joined for a performance together. On Friday, in the FAC Theater, each quartet will each play a selection before combining for the highlight of the evening: Mendelssohn’s Octet in E-flat major. Afterwards, there will be assorted desserts from local caterers stationed throughout the building, paired with wine. The concert is dedicated to Lee Vance.

Dr. Benjamin Whitcomb is a Professor of Cello and Music Theory at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater, where he has received awards for his teaching, research, and service. An active recitalist and chamber musician, he performs more than thirty concerts a year, appears regularly on Wisconsin Public Radio, is a published author, and is also a member of the UW-Whitewater Piano Trio.

Christopher Dozoryst is principal violist for the Madison Symphony Orchestra. He is also a member of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and the Oakwood Players. Previously, he was a member of the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Philharmonic and Light Opera Works orchestras.
